What Happens Next

Shortlisted candidates (210) will be called for the Stenography Skill Test, which consists of:

Part A — English Shorthand + Computer Typing Test (100 Marks): Dictation of 320 words at 80 WPM for 4 minutes, followed by 7 minutes revision and 15 minutes transcription on computer. Minimum 85% accuracy required.

Part C — English Computer Typing Test (100 Marks): Type a passage of approximately 400 words at 40 WPM in 10 minutes. Minimum 90% accuracy required.

Candidates who qualify all parts will be called for an Interview (10 Marks) where a minimum of 30% (3 out of 10) is required to qualify.

Warning: Both the shorthand and typing tests have very high accuracy requirements (85% and 90% respectively). Practice daily to maintain speed with accuracy. Even one stage failure means elimination.

Salary & Benefits

Pay Level: Level 4 (Bihar Government / Patna High Court Rules)

Pay Range: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100

Estimated In-Hand Salary: ₹36,000 – ₹40,000 per month (after NPS and professional tax deductions). Gross salary approximately ₹42,000 – ₹46,000 including DA, HRA, Medical Allowance, Travel Allowance, and Children's Education Allowance.

Career Growth: Stenographer → Senior Stenographer → Personal Assistant (PA) → Private Secretary (PS) → Senior Private Secretary (SPS). Promotions are based on seniority-cum-merit, performance reports (ACR), and departmental exams. New recruits serve a 1-year probation period.
