Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the official notification (CEN 09/2025) for 22,195 Level-1 Group D posts across Indian Railways. Posts include Track Maintainer, Helper, Assistant (Workshop), and Pointsman. Candidates with a 10th pass, ITI, or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship qualification can apply online from 31 January to 09 March 2026.

Selection Process

The selection involves four stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT) — 100 questions, 90 minutes. Subjects: Science (25), Maths (25), Reasoning (30), General Awareness (20). Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Males: Carry 35kg for 100m in 2 min + Run 1000m in 4 min 15 sec. Females: Carry 20kg for 100m in 2 min + Run 1000m in 5 min 40 sec.

Tip: Focus on Reasoning (30 questions) — it carries the highest weightage in the CBT. Avoid guessing, as negative marking applies.

Salary & Benefits

Pay Scale: Level 1 — ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 (7th Pay Commission)

In-Hand Salary: Approximately ₹26,000 – ₹29,000 per month after deductions.
