  • Printed admit card (mandatory)

  • One passport-size photograph
  • Transparent water bottle

What NOT to Carry

💡
Important: This exam has both an objective test and a descriptive test in a single session. The descriptive test (typing on computer) starts immediately after the objective portion. Be mentally prepared for both — you'll be at the centre for approximately 2.5 hours total.

Exam Pattern – What to Expect on 14th March

The exam has two parts in one sitting — no break in between.

Part A: Objective Test (120 Marks | 2 Hours)

Section Questions Marks Time
English Language 30 30 30 min
Banking Knowledge 40 40 40 min
General Awareness / Economy 30 30 30 min
Computer Aptitude 20 20 20 min
Total 120 120 2 Hours

Each section is individually timed — you cannot switch between sections. However, there is no negative marking and no sectional cut-off — only the overall aggregate score matters.

Part B: Descriptive Test (50 Marks | 30 Minutes)

This starts immediately after the objective test. You'll type your answers on the computer.

Task Marks
Letter Writing (1 question) 25
Essay Writing (1 question) 25
Total 50
💡
Since there's no negative marking, attempt every single question in the objective test. For the descriptive test, keep your letter formal and structured, and your essay well-organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Aim for at least 200-250 words for the essay.

What Happens After the Exam?

The selection process has multiple phases after the online exam:

  1. Screening — SBI verifies your 2-year officer experience and checks if your profile matches that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer. This is an elimination round.
  2. Interview (50 marks) — Shortlisted candidates (roughly 3x vacancies) are called. You must score minimum qualifying marks.
  3. Local Language Test (Qualifying) — Tests proficiency in the local language of your chosen circle. You're exempt if you studied the language in 10th or 12th standard.
  4. Final Merit — Prepared on a 100-point scale: Online Exam (75% weightage) + Interview (25% weightage).
💡
The experience screening is strict — if your current banking role doesn't match SBI's criteria for a Scale-I Generalist Officer profile, you can be eliminated even after clearing the exam. Ensure your experience certificates are accurate and ready.
