What Happens Next – Tier-II Exam

Tier-II is the merit-deciding stage and consists of two sessions conducted on the same day:

Session-I (2 Hours 15 Minutes) — This is the objective paper that determines your ranking:

Section Questions Marks Duration
Mathematical Abilities + Reasoning 60 (30+30) 180 1 Hour
English + General Awareness 60 (40+20) 180 1 Hour
Computer Knowledge (Qualifying) 15 45 15 Minutes
Total 135 360 + 45 2 Hr 15 Min

Marking scheme: +3 marks for correct, -1 mark for wrong answers. The Computer Knowledge section is mandatory and qualifying — you must clear it, but marks are not added to your merit score.

Session-II (Skill / Typing Test):

  • DEO candidates: 15-minute Skill Test (data entry speed test)
  • LDC / JSA candidates: 10-minute Typing Test — 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi
💡
Tip: Tier-II has a much tougher marking scheme (+3/-1) compared to Tier-I (+2/-0.5). Accuracy matters far more here — focus on solving questions correctly rather than attempting everything. Also, start practicing typing daily if you're appearing for LDC/JSA posts.
