TN NHM Staff Nurse Recruitment 2026

The National Health Mission – Tamil Nadu (NHM-TN), under the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, has invited offline applications for 4724 Contractual/Temporary Staff Nurse posts. Recruitment is conducted through the District Health Society at the district level. Candidates must submit the filled application to the concerned District Health Office on or before 25 September 2026, 5:00 PM.

Vacancy Details

A total of 4724 Staff Nurse vacancies are available in institutions under the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services, the Directorate of Medical Education & Research, and the Greater Chennai Corporation. Posts are distributed district-wise. The full district-wise list is given in the official application form and annexure.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) or B.Sc. Nursing from a Government institution or a Government-approved private nursing college recognised by the Indian Nursing Council.

Applicants must also hold valid registration with the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council.

Age Limit

The upper age limit is 50 years. The notification does not mention a minimum age or upper-age relaxation for reserved categories. Check the official guidelines for the cut-off date used to calculate age.

Salary and Nature of Job

The post is on a contract / purely temporary basis. The appointment does not become permanent. The contract is for 11 months and may be renewed based on performance. The minimum period of service for the position is two years, subject to renewal and performance appraisal.

Selected nurses will work in health institutions across Tamil Nadu districts, except Tiruppur and Chengalpattu.

Selection Process

Selection is carried out at the district level by the District Health Society through the respective District Health Office. Candidates should read the official guidelines and the district notification before applying.

There is no online form. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website https://nhm.tn.gov.in/ and download the application form along with district-wise vacancy details.
2. Fill the form completely and attach photocopies of the required supporting documents.
3. Submit the filled application to the Office of the District Health Officer / District Health Society of the district you are applying for.
4. For all districts except Chengalpattu and Tiruppur, address the application to the Executive Secretary, District Health Office, respective District Health Society.
5. You may submit the form in person (in the designated application box at the District Health Office) or send it so that it reaches the office on or before 25 September 2026, 5:00 PM.
