The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the notification for the UP Special Teacher Eligibility Test (UP Special TET) 2026 under Advertisement No. 03/UPTET/2026. Eligible teachers can apply online from 05 September 2026 to 04 October 2026. The written exam will be held on 03 November 2026.

Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as on 03 November 2026.
- Minimum age: Not prescribed
- Maximum age: 60 years
UPESSC will give age relaxation as per its rules.
Eligibility Criteria
This Special TET is for teachers who are already working. Candidates can apply for Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) or Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8).

Selection Process
Selection is through a written examination. The test will be held in offline OMR mode.
Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks. The duration is 2 hours 30 minutes. There is no negative marking.
- Paper I (Classes 1–5): Child Development and Teaching Methodology, Hindi, English/Urdu/Sanskrit, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies (30 questions each)
- Paper II (Classes 6–8): Child Development and Teaching Methodology, Hindi, and English/Urdu/Sanskrit (30 questions each), plus Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science (60 questions)
The general qualifying mark is usually 60%. Reserved categories get relaxation as per rules. This is a qualifying TET. UPESSC has not announced any vacancy or salary against this notification.
How to Apply
Apply online only through the UPESSC portal before 04 October 2026.
- Visit the official website https://www.upessc.up.gov.in/ or the apply portal https://apply.upessc.org/.
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you do not already have it. Candidates with an existing OTR can use the same login.
- Open the UP Special TET 2026 application form and fill in personal and eligibility details carefully.
- Enter your eHRMS code if you are a working teacher.
- Upload the photograph, signature, and other documents in the format asked on the portal.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form.
- Take a printout of the submitted form for your records.
