The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the CAPF Assistant Commandant 2026 notification (Advt. No. 08/2026-CPF) for 349 Group A posts across five Central Armed Police Forces — BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. Graduates aged 20–25 years can apply online from 20 February to 12 March 2026 (6:00 PM).

Education: Bachelor's Degree in any stream from a recognized university.

Age Limit: Minimum 20 years and Maximum 25 years (as on 01/08/2026). Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules for reserved categories.

Selection Process

The selection consists of three stages:

Stage 1 — Written Exam (450 Marks): Conducted on 19 July 2026 in two sessions on the same day.

Warning: Paper I has negative marking of 1/3rd of marks (–0.66) for each wrong answer. Paper II is only evaluated if you clear the Paper I cut-off.

Stage 2 — PST/PET & Medical Test (Qualifying): Physical standards, physical efficiency, and a comprehensive medical examination including eyesight and hearing checks.

Stage 3 — Interview/Personality Test (150 Marks): Conducted at the UPSC office for candidates who clear the medical round.

Final Merit is prepared on 600 marks (Written 450 + Interview 150).

Salary & Benefits

This is a Group 'A' Gazetted Officer post under the Ministry of Home Affairs with an attractive pay package:

  • Pay Scale: Level 10 — ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 (7th Pay Commission)
  • Initial Gross Salary: Approximately ₹95,000 – ₹1,10,000 per month
  • Allowances: DA, HRA, Ration Money, Uniform Allowance, Transport Allowance, and Risk/Hardship Allowance (₹17,300 – ₹25,000 for difficult terrain postings)
  • Other Benefits: Government accommodation, NPS, Gratuity, Group Insurance, CSD Canteen, Medical Facilities, and LTC
Note: 10% of total vacancies (approximately 35 seats) are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
