Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the UPTET 2026 notification (Advt. No. 01/UPTET/2026). The exam is for candidates who want to become Primary Teachers (Classes 1–5) and Upper Primary Teachers (Classes 6–8) in UP government schools. Online applications are open from 27 March to 26 April 2026, and the exam will be held from 2 to 4 July 2026.

The New OTR System — Must Read

The biggest change in UPTET 2026 is the One-Time Registration (OTR) system. You cannot fill the UPTET form without completing OTR first.

Here's what you need to know:

  • OTR is a one-time process — once done, your personal and academic data is saved for all future UP teacher recruitments (Super TET, TGT, PGT).
  • First-time applicants must complete Aadhaar-linked mobile verification to generate their OTR ID.
  • Your name, father's name, and date of birth in OTR must match your High School certificate exactly — these details cannot be changed easily after submission.
⚠️
Warning: Complete your OTR registration well before the last date. If there are mismatches in your Aadhaar or High School details, sorting them out takes time.

Exam Pattern

Both papers have 150 questions for 150 marks with a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. There is no negative marking.

Paper 1 — Primary Level (Classes 1–5):

Subject Questions Marks
Child Development & Pedagogy 30 30
Language I — Hindi (Compulsory) 30 30
Language II — English / Urdu / Sanskrit (Choose one) 30 30
Mathematics 30 30
Environmental Studies (EVS) 30 30
Total 150 150

Paper 2 — Upper Primary Level (Classes 6–8):

Subject Questions Marks
Child Development & Pedagogy 30 30
Language I — Hindi (Compulsory) 30 30
Language II — English / Urdu / Sanskrit (Choose one) 30 30
Main Subject — Maths & Science OR Social Studies (Choose one) 60 60
Total 150 150
💡
For Paper 2, choose Maths & Science if you have a science background, or Social Studies if you come from arts/commerce. This choice should align with the subject you plan to teach.

Salary After Selection (Through Super TET)

Once you clear UPTET and get selected through subsequent recruitment, the pay scales are:

Post Pay Scale (7th CPC)
Primary Teacher Level 6 — ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400/-

Additional benefits include DA, HRA, medical allowance, travel allowance, pension (NPS), and group insurance.
